Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has congratulated six academics from the community in the services of the University of Ilorin on their promotion to the exalted rank of Professor.
Those promoted are the University Librarian, Prof. Kamaldeen Tunde Omopupa; a former Head of the University’s Department of Mass Communication, Prof. Kayode Mustapha Lambe; and the Executive Director of the Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Prof. Nusirat Elelu, who, incidentally, became the first female Professor of Veterinary Medicine produced by Kwara State and the entire North-Central geopolitical zone.
Others promoted are a legal luminary, Prof. Ismail Adua Mustapha, who emerged as the nation’s first Professor of International Aviation Law; Prof. Akanbi Abdulrazaq Oladimeji of the Department of Science Education and Prof. Ahmed Yusuf Alapata, who teaches at the Department of Geography.
In a statement, the Union’s National President, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, commended the senior academics for working very hard to deserve their new status.
The statement also hailed the authorities of the University for rewarding diligence and professionalism of the concerned eggheads.
The Union wished the new Professors and others, who also benefited from the promotion exercise, more successful careers .
