The First Class Royal Fathers in the Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State have restated their commitment for a power shift to the Kwara North in 2027.

This was part of the prayer points at a special prayer session organized by the four Emirs in Baruten for the federal and state governments held at Kosubosu, Baruten Local Government headquarters on Sunday.

The prayer as directed by the Chief Imams of Okuta, Ilesha-Baruba, Yashikira and Gwanara sought for divine guidance, security, economic prosperity, and political stability for the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The Executive Chairman of Baruten Local Government, Hon. Isa Jibril in a remark at the prayer commended the Emirs for demonstrating excellent leadership by organizing the prayer and also thanked sons and daughters of Baruten who honoured the invitation of the royal fathers.

Hon. Jibril explained that the people felt the need to support the government both at the federal and the state levels for God’s continuous divine intervention and wisdom for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as they lead the citizenry to the next level of economic posterity.

The Emir of Okuta, HRH Alhaji Idris Abubakar, Kperogi Afon Totiri, Serobetete III, called on all Kwara Northerners to unite beyond party affiliations and work collectively toward ensuring that the region produces the next governor and also solicited for the support of compatriots from Kwara Central and Kwara South for the 2027 Kwara North Agenda.

Contributing, the Emir of Ilesha, Prof Abubakar Halidu praised President Tinubu and appreciated Governor AbdulRazaq’s sterling performance, describing him as a man of integrity and sincerity who would honor his promise to support Kwara North’s agenda in 2027.

According to Prof Halidu, since 1999 Kwara North has never tasted the position (of governorship), the Kwara South has used eight and the Kwara Central twenty years. The time has come for Kwara North to be considered

The Emir of Yashikira, Alhaji Usman Sariki Sabi in his submission appreciated those who honoured their invitation to the special prayer and called for concerted and sustained efforts to actualise Kwara North 2027 mandate.

The member representing Okuta/Yashikira state constituency, Hon. Muhammad Baba Salihu Baba Boriya who spoke on behalf of stakeholders and political leaders in Baruten appreciated the Emirs for their thoughtfulness in organizing the special prayer session saying that the initiative was a timely and noble cause aimed at ensuring equity and development in Kwara State.

Other stakeholders who attended and spoke after the prayer session echoed the plea of the traditional rulers and gave an assurance that if given the 2027 governorship ticket, every region would be a sense of belonging and be treated equally.

The prayer session, organized by the Emir of Okuta, Alhaji Idris Abubakar, Serobetete, Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Prof Halidu Abubakar Derekureku, Emir of Yashikira, Alhaji Umaru Usman Sariki Sabi, Emir of Yashikira and the Emir of Gwanara, Alhaji Abdullah Idris was well attended by someone sons and daughters of Baruten including government appointed and elected officials.
