Protesters in Maiduguri have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to redeploy all personnel of the disbanded squad to Borno State.
Civil Society Organaizations, Organised Labour, student unions and artisans in Borno State led by Ambassador Ahmed Shehu,
held contrary view to the police chief over the decision
Shehu explained that the Federal Government should rather look for ways of initiating reforms that would sanitise and strengthen the operative instead of scrapping it as pressed for by others.
He noted that the good work that SARS is doing in Borno cannot be under estimated, he recalled how the squad repelled insurgents in the Polo area of Maiduguri.
He also cited the instance of the professionalism of SARS and the manner in which its officers protected Governor Babagana Zulum when he was ambushed in Kukakwa local government area of the state recently.
