Senator Dr. Bello Maitama Yusuf, former minister for internal affairs and commerce, has been reported to have passed away.
A family source said the deceased died after protracted illness at a private hospital in Kano this morning.
Senator Yusuf represented the Jigawa South West constituency as a Senator first elected in April 1999 and reelected in April 2003.
He served as the minister for internal affairs in 1979 and the minister for commerce in 1982.
