Stakeholders in the Kwara Central Senatorial District under the aegis of Kwara Central Elders Forum have reaffirmed their full support for the 2027 Kwara North Agenda to produce the next Governor for the state.
The stakeholders comprising notable grassroots political elders and leaders from the four local government areas of Kwara Central – Asa, Ilorin East, Ilorin South and Ilorin West- made the reaffirmation during a courtesy visit by a powerful delegation of the Kwara North Youth Consultative Forum (KNYCF), on a thank you visit to express their gratitude for the elders’ bold stance on equity, justice and fairness.
The Vice Chairperson of the Kwara North Youth Consultative Forum, Mallama Bilkis Ladi Yakub who led the delegation on behalf of the Chairman appreciated the elders for standing by the truth and promised to work closely with them to achieve the long-term aspiration of the people of Kwara North and advance the course for inclusivity in Kwara politics and governance. This collaboration, he noted, would strengthen the relationship between Kwara North, Kwara Central and Kwara South.
The Coordinator of the Concerned Elders Forum, Alhaji Alamoyo for his part, reaffirmed their commitment to zoning the governorship ticket to Kwara North in 2027, citing equity and fairness as key reasons. He said “in the build up to 2023 gubernatorial elections, the Elders forum rallied support for the Kwara Central son who is completing his second term, and the people of Kwara North cooperated with overwhelming support across their five local governments.
“it is now necessary to return the favor and loyalty of the people of Kwara North, by supporting Kwara North’s aspiration to produce the next Governor of Kwara state in 2027”, he noted.
Alhaji Alamoyo also urged the people of Kwara North not to be swayed by divisive rhetoric emanating from some quarters, assuring them that the elders’ forum will advance this just course before the Governor as a leader of the party in the state, including other well-meaning leaders of Kwara Central, expressing optimism that the majority of Kwara Central leaders will support this endeavor, acknowledging that Kwara North has fulfilled righteousness to Kwara Central overtime.
Since the return of democracy in 1999, Kwara North Central has never tasted the governorship position in the state while the Kwara Central would have occupied the governorship seat for 20 years by 2027, the Kwara South has tasted it for 8 years.
